Preparing for the UK’s carbon border adjustment mechanism

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) introduces a carbon tariff on high-emission imports, such as cement, steel, and aluminium, to address carbon leakage and support climate goals. The UK Government will implement CBAM from 1 January 2027, focusing on five key sectors: aluminium, cement, fertiliser, hydrogen, and iron and steel. While glass and ceramics are excluded initially, the scope will be reviewed beyond 2027. In the EU, CBAM is currently in a transitional phase (2023–2025) and will be fully operational from 2026.

Join us for our upcoming webinar, "Sustainability in Construction: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism", developed in collaboration with the Driving Net Zero Carbon Community of Practice and BUILDOFFSITE.

During the session, delegates will:

  • Gain insights into CBAM requirements and emissions reporting for UK imports and EU exports.
  • Explore practical case studies showcasing how the construction sector is adopting sustainable practices and preparing for CBAM.
  • Learn how CBAM can help drive a greener future for the industry.
